New Computer, could use some feedback

Guys, I recently came into some money. I am designing my first 110% new computer (with some exceptions) since 2006. I could use some feedback if you want to offer it.

CPU: AMD FX-9595 (This is an Octocore with each one going at 4.7 Gigs)
MB: ASUS Crosshair V
RAM: 16 GB of DDR3-1600
Vid card: ASUS Radeon R9 290 4 GB

I am keeping the same case, with 3 120 MM fans. I have 3 HDs with a total of 7 TB of HD space.
This build will cost me $1200

I am considering a few additions to it, and if you think something should be added to this gaming/server machine, speak up. No harm in suggesting ideas

Maybe ideas include

New power pack (Old one is rated 650) 750-800 Watts
Maybe a second video card to Crossfire it (Is it worth it performance wise?)
A floppy drive controller card (Yes I still have one of those)

Hope to hear back from people.:)

Get an SSD in there if you don't have.
Samsung 940 Pro 256GB can be found for $120ish. (950 Pro for around $170)
Get a memory that's rated 2133mhz or even higher, your board and this cpu both support it.

If you can fork out the extra $50, the GTX 970 is a nice upgrade to the 290.

It might be worth buying an SSD to put your OS and a few frequently used programs on. You can get a good 256 GB SSD for around $120 these days. You could even get a smaller SSD if your budget is tight.

Ever since I started using an SSD on my PC, I've notice quite a difference when I use my other computer that doesn't have one.

Flay,
I was given the price of $429.99 for the ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II Vid card.

Would it be $50 more for the more advanced version of it? Is it worth it to crossfire two cards of this type?

While I've heard some good things about SSD, I've also heard some bad long term things, which is why I am reluctant to use them for anything but long term storage.

Whatever you heard about SSD (most likely that they are not reliable long term) WAS true - 3 years ago.
Do NOT skip this upgrade, but do not cheap on it.

The Samsung 840 or 850 Pro drives worth every penny and are amazing drives. i've been installed them in clients computers non stop, by now probably over 50 total, yet to have 1 crap out on me.
In my personal computer i have a 830 drive thats entering its 3rd year - never had an issue.

DO NOT SKIP AN SSD DRIVE!

As for the card... you forgot the mention the X ;) thats a whole other ball game.
Here:

At this point, i wouldnt bother to Xfire, if you have the extra go one step higher, but stay with 1 card.
That being said, this card will handle anything you through at it like a champ.

As for the brand, over the years, when it comes to AMD (or ATI) cards, i've moved towards Shappire over any other brand, they have yet to fail me.
Asus, while being an excellent brand, charge more for no reason but their name at this point, and i dont like paying for a name, i pay for performance.

Here is a link to the current build.

Unless there is something major I am missing, I think this is a good built to go with. A bit pricer than I wanted, but it appears to be a solid system.

Edit: Try it now... Had my 100 lbs buddy demanding a walk as I posted.

Pretty good build. If you can swing it grab an upgraded fan for the processor. I personally use the Corsair series watercoolers in my builds. Just keeps the processor cooler for those long stints of gaming :D Can easily upgrade later though if money is alittle tight on the current build your getting.

As you guys know, I build a new computer, and I didn't just tear my hair out, I was tearing my teeth out getting it up and running. Well, all the bugs are gone, the new system is running like a dream. Short of say an internal modem, another video card, or more cooling, she's ready for her introduction, and I am doing it Count's Kustoms style introduction.

For years my pride and joy as been an Antec P-190 case, an ASUS M479-Deluxe MB, AMD Phantom Quad Core than on a good day did 10 Gigs of power, slap in 7 gigs of DDR2 ram (with different speed), and an ATI HD5500 to handle the graphics with several HDs, and 3 120 mm fans to run the show. This was a refitted system from 4 years ago, and let's be fair, the AM2+ sockets are showing their age. The different ram speeds also caused some blue screen moments.

After working my tail off at work (bonus of working 2-3 jobs sometimes) I went to the design stage. I needed a new system, one that screamed power.

The initial math figures said the old case could be used, nope, the original math said a 750 watt power supply would work, nope too little juice. Well ladies and gent's, let's see what Pack pulled off.

Powerpack: 1300 watts (Asus suggested as a revised figure to go 1050, I went Tim Taylor here)
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z
Cooling: Liquid Cooled on the CPU (1 120 fan, need to find a wire to hook up the second one), and 3 140 fans for the case.
CPU: AMX FX-9590 Black Edition
Ram: 16 GB of DDR3-2400
Video card: XFX R9 290X series with 4 GB of DDR5 RAM.
PVR card: Hauppauge HVR-1250
Hard drive space: 11.5 Terabytes. The .500 is a SDD drive. No T is not a typo.
Optical drive: LG DVD Burner
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl - Window
Operation systems: Win 7 64 Bit, and Win XP on duel boot

The sad fact is that the XFX R9 290X video card took up so much space in the Antec P-190 case that I was losing hard drive bays to use it. Add to that the wiring problems, place looked like a rat's nest. Yup, the case joined much of my old system that is used for retired/space PC parts. A place I actually cleared out while building the new system. I doubt I need all the spare floppy drives or IDE based hard drives any more. My old monitor joined the list of spare parts because my new video card doesn't support it.

Just in case anyone is wondering, it was a electrical problem on the motherboard that caused all those headaches in the first place. Too many ors, and no one said which Or to use with my CPU. All it took was one wire being unplugged, and the system runs like a dream. She does WoW at max setting at over 100 FPS!

Well guys, to quote Porky Pig, "That's all folks", thanks for helping me build this monster rig, and I'll see you in WoW.

Cheers,

Pack
