Two tech problems 1 PC

Alright guys,
As I wait in line to play I am dealing with the low end of the to do list, and this is on it. I've got two problems, and I am game if someone has a solution for either one.

First one: I can't get Virtual Windows XP to run on Windows 7 Pro any more.

A few months ago the hard drive it was on failed, so I uninstalled it all, got a new drive, and reinstalled it. Since then have hit the following problem.

It can't boot up or find the Boot Device.
Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Yes I've installed "new" versions of Windows XP, no dice.:P

************************************************************************************************************************************************
Second One:

I've atributed my PC freezing up due to heat issues because the case is a bit on the small side, and it's a hot system (in more ways that one).

However occationally I do get Mr. Blue Screen of Death, see attached photo.

At the time I was playing youtube videos and WoW. Nothing that should've stressed the system's resources.

*************************************************************************************************************************************************

I will gladly provide more information to those who ask it in regards to these tech problems. I will do my best in the free time I have to get back to people who respond.

Looks and sounds like a hard drive issue.
Being that this is the second time, I'd suspect something with your power supply is wrong.

Or, you just have real bad luck with hard drives.

I'm also assuming this is not an SSD.

Hard Drive System Break down.

Main Drive (Windows, WoW, Word)
SSD 500 GB

Game Drive (Steam, Gog, ect)
2 TB (Traditional type)

Media Drives (Computer has a TV Tuner Card)
2 X 4 TB (Traditional type)

Windows XP Drive
1 TB (Traditional type)

If memory servers they all operate under at least SATA 2, and the MB does support SATA 3.

Possibly a stupid question, but have you updated all the drivers, chipset and all that good stuff recently? If you haven't it might be a good time to do so. Is this computer a self build or was it a prefab?

Let's cover all the bases here:
It is a self built system, I check the manufacture's websites every 2-3 months for driver updates unless prompted by software.

Full system breakdown.

CPU: AMD FX-9590 Black Edition
MB: ASUS Crosshair V Formula Z
Ram: 16 GB DDR3-2400
Video Card: AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB DDR5
Turner Card: Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1250
PSU: 1300 Watts
Case: 4X 140 MM fans for cooling, two in front suck in, 2 on top blow out.

My gut tells me this BSD problem has nothing to do with the DVD-Burner, Mouse, Keyboard, or USB-Hub my system has. I am willing to do more digging onto the PSU & case if requested.

What is the point of trying to run XP? Do you have apps that dont work in 7? A lot of work for not a lot of return, imo

Actually Bell I have several older games I like play time to time, which run better/easier in XP than 7. I also found the fax feature in XP is more reliable than in 7.

Either one of your drivers are out of data / wrong.
Or your memory / hard drive / motherboard are failing.

My guess one of your harddrives, or the driver to the Tuner card.

Download and run HDtune or Seagates test tool and run it on all your drives, if they all check out, move on to memory test.

If anything is OC'd, change it back to normal.

11.5 TB worth of HD space to check, where to start.::Moans::

The 500 GB SSD, it's always checked by software from Samsung who made that drive, so I am 99% its save.

Still 11 TB is going to take a while, so I guess I will be running HD Tune as I check out all the hard drives.

From the pictures, most likely issues in order of my opinion only, driver fail, HDD fail, over heating, memory fail (but looks unlikely). This can eaaaaaaaaaasily be a driver issue, due to how often it seems you are getting the bsod/stop error. Get ccleaner or something like it and clean up drivers, make sure you aren't just going to the ASUS website for drivers on chipset etc. they are known for being iffy.

I don't know how much you know about computers so please don't take any of this as an insult, if its something you would obviously know or do to begin with. ;) Good luck.

P.S. Especially thinking driver issue with the previous hdd fail and installation>removal>reinstalls that you were doing in the past, things get corrupted easily in windows.

When it comes to tech, I know my limits, which is why I asked for help.

I can built them (or upgrade/swap parts), I can install OS, and I can tweak them to my preferences. After a certain point I know when it's out of my depth which is on part with the local techs (i.e staples, geek squad, and so forth). Which is why I here.

Years ago I used to use a tool called System Mechanic to help with my computer maintenance until I found out it was screwing things up with games I was playing, and I am always hesitant to use programs along that vein due to this fact.
I also know the affects first hand of a bad driver (Still remember ATI and my AT Radoen X1900 XTX card), where you need sometimes an unofficial driver to fix things.

I not hoping for a silver bullet, 1 shot, its fixed Pack. I am hoping to eliminate what could be the cause, and narrow it down until I know where ideally to dig into things more. Either by e-mailing technical support of the company in question and so forth, or maybe digging on the forums people set up for problems with this hardware.

Additional information
OS: Win 7 Pro-64 bit (No I won't touch 10)
Program used to record TV shows: Windows Media Center.
During reboot of BSD BIOS says machine is in the 50C range (SOMETIMES)
Sometimes the machine hardlocks when recording a TV show, and I am playing a video game. Hardlocks do not show up in the logs.

As of now all the hard drives (and even a flash drive) have been checked via HDTune 2.55, and they came back as perfect. At the time the case was open, it was in the 30 C range.

What's next? Ram? Video card? TV Tuner Card? Recommendations for freeware (or shareware) programs to run these tests.

Still sounds 100% driver to me, you could always run memtest86 all night when you go to bed or something, see how the ram checks out, or pop one ram out at a time and switch them back in, but in all likely hood its a driver.

I'm with you on the windows 7 and nothing above, maybe you need a fresh reinstall just to eliminate easily.

BTW, I'd never recommend any software that I didn't trust, ccleaner is my go-to for driver clean up, I never even back up files, just scan and erase, haven't had any problem with it... ever, for years and years.

More info:

Since I got the TV Tuner card if I play a game, run Windows Media Center to record, there is a chance of system hardlock. TV Tuner Card is now in it's 3rd system.

I did a fresh reinstall of Windows last year, almost to the day. At the time I skipped the CD/DVD and download the drivers right from ASUS/AMD/Haup/Logitech, ect.
