hey Bell, their are some tricks to boost antena signals. depending on the antena. I'd suggest you check it out of youtube.
I used to use a metal bowl to boost the celular connection it would do a world of a differance. it works like a satellite dish.
so you could just take a metal bowl and place it behind your router facing the direction you lack connectivity.
or strip the antenna of your router, twist a coper wires around it and make it extent as far as you want. you could make it go around the house even =P make sure you have you home wifi signal even at the corner store lol

Little speed increase on PC Download and Droid upload, as expected... lets see how long it stays connected!

Glad you got that sorted out. Was going to recommend the NetGear also. For the money, it is a decent piece. I had to go a little more fancy, I have two houses across the street from one another, and I don't / won't pay to have internet at both. I purchased a Ruckus, though expensive (about $430), I can get wifi almost ΒΌ mile from the houses. I have another property that is 3 blocks away and can get signal there as well. Doubly impressive is it will also boost my LTE connection on my phone with the right setup, and I don't have to share the band with any other smart phones...

The ROI is just 3 short months with the way BrightHouse charges for cable and internet.

Do a speedtest with testmy.net - it is text based. It also is stationary, not selecting fastest node server connections which skew the results.
