What do people see as being the ideal desktop monitor size?

I sit ~2.5-3ft from my monitor (large desk), so a 32" TV works perfectly for me. Additionally, since my bed is right behind my desk chair, I can sit/lay in bed and watch tv and it's not too small.

I rock a 24inch widescreen which seems perfect to me.

Edit: so, omg, I cannot imagine playing on a 40incher

It depends on how close you are sitting to the screen. I feel like 24" is the max when sitting at a small desk. Maybe 26" if the monitor sits back a little bit. I can imagine playing on a 40 inch if I sat back a few feet from it, but not on a desk like that.

I use a 22" widescreen main monitor and a 19" square for vent, web, ect. I would like to go up to a 24" or 26" though.

Yep, my desk is pretty deep so having my screen against the wall ends up with me about 1.5 arms lengths from my monitor - which I find perfect at 32". If I were even a few inches closer, it'd probably start getting too wide and stuff would end up in my periphery.

I usually have a 27" as the main and a 19" that you see on the side. I snagged this from the living room when my 27" started acting weird and the 19" was too small to raid on.
