Storage problems...?

So after getting my 500gb ssd to replace my 128gb ssd for my OS a couple weeks ago, my 1tb storage drive decided to kick the bucket tonight.... so I ordered a Seagate 2tb solid state hybrid gaming drive (Amazon same day delivery is the shit). Now I will have the 500gb for my OS and documents, 2tb for storage, and I am putting wow, vent, and my streaming programs exclusively on the 128gb ssd (who the hell dedicates a hard drive to wow?)

Has anyone used one of these seagate solid state hybrid gaming drives?

I don't think I will have anymore storage problems for a while.

I have used one a little bit back. Basically it is a spindle drive with a memory cache to buffer the read/write activity. it is more a spindle drive than a SSD so don't get confused but you should see a decent improvement in performance compared to your last spindle drive.

It has pretty good reviews on fhe 1tb. The reviews on the 2tb are really mixed which I didn't realize until after I ordered it. I guess we shall see.

The one I am replacing lasted 17,255 hours. Are Seagates bad?

I have had my current 2TB Seagate since 2012 and it works perfectly fine. Never had any problems with it.

While I've never owned a Hybrid drive, my last Seagate drive lasted close to 10 years, which means it lasted 3 PCs.

It just got here... check out the packaging it was sent in. Pretty sure Amazon sent me a refurb. After fighting with them for 15 minutes they are sending me another one! No paperwork, no invoice, nothing.

Good call on demanding a replacement. That does look like a refurb.

It's sort of aggrivating. We got prime a week or two ago because I literally spend hundreds of dollars a month on Amazon and we never had problems with incorrect items or shipping until last week. I had 3 products lost last week that are having to be redelivered and now this hard drive crap.

By the way, I get to keep both.

When I purchased a few of them several months ago, they all came like that. Perhaps mine were refurbished too, but I was surprised at the packaging as well. I went ahead and installed them, assuming that was how they were normally shipped.

I got an email back from Seagate. It is because it is a barebones drive. That is the reason for not being in retail packaging. They confirmed it is new and under warranty until March 2021.

All is well.
