Ultrawide Monitors

I know we have a few in guild that currently play with ultrawide monitors. I'm looking at picking one up sometime soon and was curious what everyone has and if they would recommend it to others.

Mostly just looking at the 34/35" 1440p monitors with VESA support.

I would no recommend 4K. It puts a lot of demand on gfx cards and games are about 5 years off from taking advantage of 4K.

I use the Acer Predator x34 and I am very happy with.

What kind of video card do you have? I ask because you really want to look at one that supports the dynamic sync of your video card; be it AMD/ATI or Nvidia; it really does make a big difference.

I use the Acer Predator X34 as well and a Samsung SE790C. But I also have a pair of Nvidia GFX 980Ti cards in 2x SLI to drive it. The Acer can do G-Sync, which means I can play on that monitor at 100MHz (which spells 100 FPS in WOW with VSync enabled); above 100MHz is not THAT noticeable, but 60 to 100 is big.

Regardless, plan to spend around a grand on the monitor or more as the 34" 3440x1440 monitors are still really new and there are only a couple of manufactures.

You will be fine then to drive 2x 3440x1440 monitors if you do the 2 monitor thing. Hell, my pair of 980Tis can drive 2x 3440x1440 as well as a 1920x1080 27" display, but that is just too much screen space for me to need.

Get the Acer, you will not be disappointed. It fully supports VESA mounting as that is what i use (I ahve a desk mounted VESA pole that holds me 2 displays with one on top of the other with teh upper display slightly tiled down).

I've had my eyes on this monitor for a while. Wasn't sure if there was something else I should look at first.

The difficult part I'll have to figure out is what to do with my current monitors. I have 2x http://amzn.to/29LcnPp Could put them both in vertical on either side, or sell one and put one above.. hmm..

The Acer is 32 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" high. Use that to play out your layout. a single GTX980 will find it difficult to push more than just the Acer, however.

I know right! My main screen is a 22" Acer I bought on Craigslist for $40! My secondary screen is a 19" square flatscreen Dell monitor! Hahaha.

I have the Acer XR341CK:
http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/UM.CX1AA.001
(Damn the price drop since i brought it..)

Have it for about 8 months now - love it!
And yes, it does support standard VESA mounts, I have mine mounted on the wall.

a 980 will power it up just fine, my pair of 7870 ran it on high without a problem, my current 390x runs it on Ultra, as well as 2 other 24" monitors i have hooked up, lowest i've dropped during raid, mid fight was to 55-57 fps.
