AM Fantasy Football

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

I am planning on trying to run an Anti Meridiem Fantasy Football league.

This will be a 10 team, head-to-head league with a buy in of 1000 g.

It will be a live draft, time: TBD
(I will *try* to make it a weekend, so we do not interfere with anyone's raiding times, but I will have to take what I am given, within reason)

Format/Scoring:

Passing Touchdowns - 6
Interceptions - -2
Rushing Yards - 10 yards per point

Defense/Special Teams

Sack - 1

Block Kick - 2
Points Allowed 0 points - 10

Prizes, other than a year's worth of bragging rights...

1st - 6,000g
2nd - 3,000g
3rd - 1,000g

**IF** there is overwhelming interest, I can try to set up a second (high-rollers 5k buy-in) league, but no promises.

Once I get things set up on Yahoo, I will post the league info here:

Sorry, yes this is a yahoo league...

And I thought it would be more fun and give people something to play for, if their were prizes, I just couldn't afford to fund them myself...

If you are that poor, perhaps I could loan you the entry fee... then you can work it off, doing some instance tanking for me come Cataclysm...

Never done FF online before.... does Yahoo automatically track the points? I mean, like after the draft, do we need to actually do anything? Or just sit back and watch our standings?

WOot count me in, I have 4 league championships in the last 7 years including having won Best Buy's FF challenge last year (wanna see a pic of the trophy? first trophy I ever won!!!!!!) so I'm definitely in :p

Cremate you sure you wanna use yahoo? ESPN offers a free fantasy football system, the league I founded there is on it's 5th season (3 keepers, tradeable draft picks, etc) and its a really easy to use interface, rarely has issues at all. No problem getting live stat and score updates on game day, either. I've used everything from CBS to NFL.com to SI.com etc, ESPN is by far the best I've seen...though I admit to having never used yahoo :D

Keep me updated, I love FF :D

I think we could do something like this.

Bet what ever you want!!!

Now this really plays some havoc.

But basically you can only loose what you what the what winners won, or the your total bet what ever is greater.

So example:

Player 1 - 1000
player 2 - 0
player 3 10
player 4 - 100
player 5 1000
player 6 5000

Then when it comes time, we will start easy...

Player 6 wins followed by player 5 and then player 1.

6 wins awesome!!! They are the max better so get the greatest benefit. 65% of the total pot 7110 or 4621.5.
player 5 gets 25%- 1777.5 and player 1 gets 10% 711. EASY!!, yes its possible to loose money by winning, but only because he put in 5x more then the next player.

Now lets do a bit more complicated.

Player 1 wins followed by player 2, 3, 4, 5, then 6. OMG player 6 is out 5000??? no wait... he can only loose as much as the winner bet.

So the total pot changes. Player 1 donated 1000, so everyone looses a max of 1000, so we take the 7110 and remove the 4k from it that big boy #6 over paid. So the first place pot is 3110. Do the math of 65%, winner winner chicken dinner, player 1 pulls down 2021.5.

Player 2 bets nothing, so he gets nothing, moving on he gets bragging rights, and nothing more. Now this is where you can make a decision, you can either split the 2nd place winnings among the remaining players based on % put in, or you can just say hey player 3 "gets second"

Lets assume we go with player 3 gets second.
We have awarded 2021.5 of the 3110 total pot so far, leaving 1085.5
Player 3 bet, 10, so everyone loose a max of 10 to this guy. There are 5 people that bet 10 or more so 50 is the total pot he gets for second place. so he gets 25% of 50, or 12.5

This leaves 1073 "second prize" up in the air.
and have "awarded" 3097.5 so far (or is on hold to be awarded)

Now player 4 gets 4th, but he gets 3rd because player 2 didn't bet. Also he gets 2nd, for all the money that player 3 couldn't claim due to his lower bet.

So he gets for 3rd overall 10% of of his total possible winnings, 410 being the sum, of the other players max lose to you.
So he gets a payout of 41 for 3rd prize, but he also gets a portion of second prize. Again everyone else can loose 410 to him, so he gets 25% of 410 or 102.5 for second prize.

This gives player 4 a grand total of 143.5

So lets recap.

Player 1: 2021.5
Player 2: nothing
Player 3: 12.5
Player 4: 143.5

Now player 5 gets nothing? Well that assumes how we picked our choice above, but going of what we did for player 3 and 4, he is still a "winner". He put in 1000, so he is subject to the same max as player 1, based on max lossed by each player (3110).

He gets a portion of 2nd place: what player 2,3,4 could not claim. 25% of 3110 = 777.5 - what player 2,3,4 claimed for second, 0, 12.5, 102.5, for a grand total second prize winnings of 662.5. He also gets the 3rd prize winnings player 3 and 4 could not claim. So again 10% of 3110 = 311 - 41 (the amount player 4 took for 3rd prize) or 270.

So in total player 5 gets 932.5.

Now there is a bunch of money left for player 6 to re-claim because no one could claim it.
We have awarded a total of 2021.5, 0, 12.5, 143.5 and 932.5 for a grand total of, you guessed it, the 3110 (or total possible lost if player 1 won).

So player 6 gets 4k back of the 5k he bet.

So in summery.

Player Bet Winnings Lose(into bet)
1 1000 2021.5 1000
2 0 0 nil
3 10 12.5 10
4 100 143.5 100
5 1000 932.5 1000 (first person not to make money or break even)
6 1000 0 1000 (the max lost is the max bet of a winner).

I know its a pain in the ass, but it allows every one to bet what ever they wish, including nothing, while still rewarding those who wish to bet more. If I bet 10, and you bet 10,000, you have claim to 100% of my total, while i only can take claim of 10 gold of your 10,000. so 9910 is safe from my greedy mits.

No if player 6 would have "placed" there would be no fall though money because he is entitled to everything. If he got second place for example the 3rd place winner would get his 10% of the total 12.5, and player 6 would have gotten everything that player 1 and player 3 didn't win,

you spent a bunch of time on that and huzzah.... but either buy in or don't... focus more on your draft and you too could try to contend for the title!!

Yes it tracks points for you, but you cant exactly just sit back...
You will need to pay attention to which players in the league are doing well.
adjust your line-up regularly (at least once a week or so)
grab players off the waiver wire
etc..

so it will require some weekly maintenance
