March Buildup

This time around I'm going to focus on the "core" everyone has there own opinion on cases and accessories. This is a P67 Buildup.

The GTX 560TI is giving me like 100fps in WOW. It runs about 180 and is a really nice card. It didn't fare to well on other games.

I would recommend the OCZ Vertex 3 in place of the Intel SSD. Performance is much higher on the OCZ than Intel when it comes to write speeds.

good choice in PS. I have that same one in my Corsair 800D.

Lith, mind elaborating on what you mean with the 560Ti not doing so well on other games?

Granted, most of the comparisons I saw put the MSI version behind the GIGABYTE & ASUS versions of the card performance-wise, it was only a difference of <10fps, nothing terribly substantial given the frightening differences in GPU temps. Most of these were done using standard GPU benchmark tests (3DMark11, FurMark, Crysis, etc).
Houtoku - 100 Death Knight (Unholy)
Malgan - 100 Paladin (Holy)
Daelen - 100 Mage
Khalur - 100 Warlock
Malfor - 100 Druid (Guardian)
Carcharocles - 100 Warrior (Protection)
Malastor - 100 Rogue
Celerion - 100 Hunter
Haedrem - 100 Shaman

I guess I meant the difference between the like gtx 570 and the 560ti. In wow the 560ti runs really nice. The 560 doesn't run like crysis and all that kind of stuff nearly as nice. I'm strictly a WOW and EVE player so it works out great, I just didn't want to lead anyone into thinking the 560 was going to be a really good all around card. Seems like the more benchmarks I see on wow once you get past a certain graphical threshold it's more about the processor then the video card.

Yep, especially if you 2x/3x SLI some really powerful GPUs. When Toms Hardware did the Cataclysm benchmarks, beyond a certain point they were CPU bottlenecked.

HUH? I have no problems with just about everything maxed in Crysis with my 560Ti, I had to back down the AA to 2x but I can sustain ~60 FPS. I bottom out around 45 but its still smooth.

On the Crysis 2 Demo, using optimal settings I am able to maintain a smooth 45 FPS. (on hardcore settings it was about 25 FPS, still smooth though)

One thing to remember about Crysis it matters just as much on the CPU as it does on the GPU.

I dont know how u guys are doing on your sandybridge 2600 or 2500k systems but it seems to be going something like .
4.8ghz out of the box, unless you are unlucky with your k series cpu.
For the magic 5ghz + you may have to tweak your overclock as we have allways done.

For that speed , gonna need the usual.. good psu.. good aftermarket cooler good mbrd with decent vrm's

2000k cpu's the Vne if you dont want to shorten cpu lifespan is 1.52 v,which since they are 32nm cpu's seems high to me as 40nm cpu's were 1.45 v approx..

Anything over 1.35-1.37 v on the sandy cpu's and the strain/temps increase very rapidly beyond intel cooler limits.

It is diminishing returms, but has changed slightly.
Now you might get a 40% overclock with bog standard components, whereas before you might have been lucky to get 25% cpu speed increase with standard stuff.

The " I feel the need for speed" tweakers, now have a narrower envelope to work in for their maximum cpu clock.
Taking into consideration the diminishing returns on cpu speed increase,ie a 40% cpu speed increase will net u big performance gainssay factor 8.5 from a 5.0 base, but a 50% cpu speed increase may only net u a factor 9 it may not be worth the investment in $.
