well yeh gx.especially for WoW..9800gt nvidia or wotever is plenty.

i5 2500k system still in bits and was late in from work
nb
The 775 cooler use thing on asrock p67 mbrds.
Its really for stndard intel coolers(push fit).

I will get my v8 working on it .it just needs a small engineering workshop, expect results tomorrow.

Its disappointing.

Go into the uefi interface, dial up the max available auto overclock 4.8Ghz and save it boot into win7 thats it. I miss the tweaking :).
Overclocking for the masses  .

5ghz may need some work, its not auto. 4.8 seems nice n stable for raiding etc,but gx card is on standard clock.
Ill play around with settings when I get time.

hehe 4.8ghz on air basically out of the box. I'm pretty ok with that. The gtx 560ti is giving me 60 fps with everything turned all the way up in 25 man raids, with v-sync on. The only issue that will kill the fps for some reason is the reduce input lag. I'm working on that right now. I was seeing 112 fps in stormwind with v-sync off. I haven't tried to overclock yet. Best thing is it's totally silent.

Which one did you get?

I'm looking at the MSI 560 Ti Twin Frozr II/OC. Seeing pretty benchmarks + sexy temps from what I'm reading
Houtoku - 100 Death Knight (Unholy)
Malgan - 100 Paladin (Holy)
Daelen - 100 Mage
Khalur - 100 Warlock
Malfor - 100 Druid (Guardian)
Carcharocles - 100 Warrior (Protection)
Malastor - 100 Rogue
Celerion - 100 Hunter
Haedrem - 100 Shaman

aye the MSI is the one I got. The cooler, and fans are very high quality. The layout is very nice, and the card isn't any larger then the gtx 260 black edition I'm upgrading. My only complaint is the HDMI is a mini. This isn't a big deal except in my Antec 900 case the adapter to go from mini to regular doesn't fit becuase of the way the case is. I will have to purchase a mini to regular cable, and then I'll be all set. Monday's raid will be my first overclock foray.

I'm thinking of holding off till the Ivy Bridge procs come out + NVidia's supposed to be releasing a new card sometime soon... (one can only hope) they'll be reasonably priced, but most likely they won't be but will drive the prices on everything else down a bit further.

Yeh Teleri,
The conclusions I came to before i bought my memory were
1 1.5v ddr3 gives you good compatability with the other p67 voltages tho there is eco ram at 1.35v
2 1800 mhz memory isnt rated that highly, has to be either over or underclocked for p67.
3 1600 mhz memory is the sweet spot in terms of price for some but there isnt much difference in going for 1333mhz
4 Unless your some kind of multi threading video editing enthusiast you wont notice the difference between 1333mhz and 2000mhz + ram,
This is down to the base clock lock. Its similar to older 33mhz base clock timing and locked or unlocked cpu's.
There you could get maybe 35mhz base but anything above that would make other components unstable.

My "old" lga775 pc , base cpu clock was the way to go with a locked cpu multiplier, still keeping pci at 100mhz but fsb and hence memory and cpu could be clocked up by varying cpu ref.
In my case 333mhz cpu ref became 500mhz which in turn became frontside bus speed of 2000mhz up from 1333mhz(x4),cpu speed of 4000mhz up from 2600mhz(x8 max)
and memspeed of 1000mhz(x2 min).

The 2000k sandybridge cpu's are like the closest thing to the celeron 300A (which would hold 500mhz,stock was 300mhz altho that was a fsb boost also),except this time its "approved" by intel.

I bought 8gb of 1333mhz ram for slightly more than the cost of 4gb of 1600mhz ram because for p67 ram speed isnt as impoertant and i needed more ram for a reduced swapfile size for my ssd.
Windows EI experience index is 7.7 for every component, which isnt bad . I am getting some lag on mouse input which isnt great for WoW but hopefully ill get it solved.

Check this http://www.pureoverclock.com/review.php?id=1194&page=10

My 2500k seems happy on autoclock of 4.8ghz even with a gx card overclock, they must have recieved a very poor chip.

Think of it this way:
intel give you a maximum 50% overclock these days.

When I said I got a 4.8ghz out of the box overclock, that is true, however under load the multiplier fluctuates from 45-48,ie 4.5-4.8ghz.

This isnt unusual. Some people cant get above 4.5ghz,ie 45 multiplier. Its cpu and mbrd dependent.
In general i5 2500k and i7 2600k arent happy above a x48 multiplier.

That is unless you wANT TO BURN UP 1.5V+ thru the cpu for diminishing returns and reduced cpu life.

With the asrock p67 extreme6 or extreme 4 mbrds,expect a "real" overclock of 4.6ghz.

This is v fast as it is and the extreme 6 should be marginally better due to the vrm configuration.

From personal experience:
1.my 2500k chip can be configured easily to allways give 4.8ghz under heavy load with 1.35-1.4v.That is a 45% speed increase. The motherboards own auto 4.8ghz wont hold under load ,it fluctuates between 4.5 and 4.8.

5 ghz is probably doable but not on a 24/7 basis with air cooling. The same will be true for the i7 2600k,unless you disable hyperthreading, but then why buy an i7?

2. Baseclock(100mhz).100 x48=4.8ghz,104x48=4.92 ghz ,however unless you hve very few components in the system, increasing the base clock makes things unstable, just like anuyhing over 33mhz used to on pre pentium systems.

4.5-4.8ghz you will blow away any current system at least until ivybridge appears.

Im not sure if u guys are still interested ib this but as a sb owner ,I am

The asrock p67 extreme6 is a decent piece of kit (for me atm bios 1.30 seems the most effective as it has pll override.)

a 44 multiplier ,ie 100x44:> 4.4ghz is p easy to obtain.doesnt matter how good or bad your cpu is , they all seem capable of that

ie with other intel cpu's you had to have some idea of what you were doing and how to adjust settings to even get off the base cpu speed.

Put it this way, most intel cpu's seem to be capable of around 50% overclock max before temps and voltages with air cooling begin to limit things. Before sb you had to work hard on settings to get say a 40% overclock, now its just "there".

The 40-50%+ is as tricky as its allways been, but to cut it short ,Im able to get a 48x102 ie 4.9ghz approx cpu speed for 100% 24/7 use .The 5ghz is more elusive.
I dont mean booting into win7 at 5ghz or even higher, its being able to hold it 24/7 without going to cpu/mem/mbrd lifespan shortening settings.

Anyone who has an asrock mbrd,if you get a "double boot" ,its not so much the bios, its just more likely your settings wont hold 24/7.

B3 replacemtnt mbrds with the extra 1 year guarantee should be commonly available soon , so updates then.
