PC Memory Usage

I'm in desperate need of some assistance...

My PC has been bogging down as of late and I'm looking at the resource monitor and it shows im using 99% of my memory almost the entire time I have WoW loaded... meaning I'm getting massive game lag, I can't alt-tab to do anything etc.

It used to work perfectly and has been getting worse and worse and worse, now im almost unplayable in any "busy" zone...

I see a bunch of processes running but nothing seems to be hogging resources... I have 3Gigs of Ram and WoW is using 1.3Gigs... maybe something is wrong there?

Any suggestions?

You could do with more memory tbh. Regardless of what blizz say min requirements are. That being said and done, remove all add ons and then run a wow repair. See if that helps in the first instance. Sometimes there are corrupted game files that dont stop you playing but will give zone lag.

I would go with that route. Alittle more memory will help, turn off addons and repair wow. Also you can try defragmenting your PC. I'm not sure what video card your using but it could be overheating or the cpu could be overheating. If that's the case buy a co2 duster can and clean out your fans.

Hope this helps! :)

depends on what operating system version you have for the ram part. if your still using a 32-bit system your maxxed at 3GB ram. if your running that id say its time to upgrade unfortunately. with windows 7 home premium version 64-bit can run up to 16GB of ram and if you go with professional then the skys the limit on ram since it can recognize up to 192GB lol. but most towers these days are running the 64-bit system just to take advantage of the amounts of ram computers can hold these days.

I'm having the exact same problem. Though I attributed it to a virus, since the winrscmde.exe process is also taking up about 1.3m in memory as well as WoW's 1.3m. It has gotten to the point where if I dont go into my Task Manager to "End Process" on WoW and a few different programs about once an hour, my computer will go to the "Blue screen of death" and shut down.

I agree with what was said above. Majoring in IST myself, I would get a bottle of canned air, blow out your cpu fan, the video card fan, and the power supply. It could be a stick of memory starting to go bad. Let me know how many sticks of memory are in the computer now, and how many slots you have free. Could test things by taking one stick of ram out and booting up, seeing how the system ran, and then put that stick back in, and remove another, to see if you can find the culprit of a possible bad memory stick. I would suggest going with at least 4 gigs of ram, but you'd have to check your manual to see what the motherboards specifications are - what is the most amount of memory allowed on that board.

I have an old 32 bit system running windows xp that is not all that ancient, and i have 4 gigs installed, and it recognizes it at 4 gigs. It all would depend on how old the motherboard is how much windows xp will see. Some can see / use all 4 gigs, where as others can only see / use 3 gigs.

Make sure that you test all of your ram chips as it could keep on going slow even if you add some. Seems to me that one of them/all is broken.

Happy gaming! <3
