Hehe we are both long past college and its super annoying because she is one of those artists thats afraid that if she does it for a living she wont like it anymore...Im trying to get her to throw a portfolio together and send it to Marvel/DC/top Cow/Bioware etc etc. But she is entirely self taught with no formal training whatsoever.

understandable, and self taught eh? she is very good for being self taught, but then again the biggest thing to getting good with art is just doing it the longer you do it and practice the better you will get.

which no college can really teach, they just teach you the ideas and principles behind like shading and body proportions.

just a personally opinion though, since i am kinda in the same field and have many friends irl who work in the comic industry. if she is afraid she wont like drawing if its a job, then i suggest to her to try to find work as a cover artist and/or trading cards.

the work is alot less stressful then an illustrator, alot more fun, and can pay just as good.
